Here's the Dirt on Mud Season
It's that time of the year again - mud season! SELT's trails are open, but we would advise anyone interested in getting out on our properties to tread wisely.
During mud season, trails become soft and susceptible to damage as the ground thaws. Morning excusions may be a better idea as the trails are likely to be firmer thanks to the early chill.
Please do your best to use tougher, hardened tails until the softer, packed earth trails become dry. Steering clear of the muckier treadways will help prevent added maintenance and repairs in the future.
If you end up on a muddy stretch, please remain within the path so as not to damage the surrounding habitat. Also be aware that brooks and streams can quickly amplify so keep your eyes peeled.
Finally, wearing appropriate footwear will make sure your happy adventure doesn't turn into a soggy misadventure!
